Webinar - Carbon Capture & Cement: How Carbon Capture Technology Is Decarbonising Construction Today

28 September 2026
Est. Reading: 1 minute

Concrete is the second most used material on earth, behind only water. With cement, the binder in concrete, generating as much as 8% of global CO2 emissions, decarbonising construction is hard. Carbon capture offers a way forward without requiring any changes to concrete that can otherwise present challenges for specifiers and construction programmes. The launch of evoZero – cement produced using carbon capture technology – represents a pivotal moment for infrastructure.

To examine this, New Civil Engineer (NCE) has partnered with manufacturer Heidelberg Materials UK for a dedicated webinar to give the industry an opportunity to learn more and ask questions about how large-scale carbon captured near-zero cement is produced and how the cement’s carbon footprint can be measured and verified.

This webinar will address:

Q 1 - What does carbon capture mean for the CO2 content of near-zero cement?

Q 2 – With the first such cement works operational in Norway while the UK’s first is under development in north Wales, how is this available already?

Q 3 – The role of third-party verification in carbon accounting for engineers and clients considering net zero carbon cement for concrete at scale.
