Murdock Builders Merchants growth over the last 35 years has been a combination of organic and by acquisition. They are currently recognised as a leading supplier of building materials and timber in the Irish market place. They have 13 Builders Merchants branches plus two timber sites in Ireland, North and South, and a Civils Division with plans for continued growth.
Murdock Builders Merchants was originally established in 1982 with the set-up of Newry Building Supplies Ltd on the Rathfriland Road. After a brief period at this location, Newry Building Supplies transferred to a bigger more central location on the Greenbank Industrial Estate, where it remains today.
Presently, Cranwood Industries is based in a purpose-built facility in Warrenpoint Co. Down, and is one of the Murdock Group’s specialist timber sites. They offer a full range of machined timber products, from standard skirting and architrave moulds to customized window boards, stair parts, and door sets. With an increasing demand from both domestic and commercial customers for more intricate and detailed timber sections, Cranwood Industries has combined technical expertise with modern machining technology and imaginative designs to deliver innovative solutions in this market. Cranwood Industries stock a large variety of high-quality hardwood and softwood species imported from around the world with over 20 different species of hardwood in stock.
Murdock Builders Merchants are able to design and manufacture Roof Trusses from their Newry-based operation. Having made a significant investment in a state-of-the-art plant and software, they can now offer the full design and production service, This is complemented by an experienced sales team who are available to call on site to confirm measurements and discuss any queries on a face to face basis.
Roof trusses are an increasingly popular roof solution for many customers due to the reduction in labour and costs which they provide.
