We are proud to have Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail - Infrastructure Management as sponsors of our Construction Jobs Expo 2024 careers fair. Their team will be front of house in the RDS' Industries Hall this Saturday from 10am until 4pm. Furthermore, their HR Manager, Ann Spellacy, will be giving her seminar, A Career in Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail Infrastructure Management: An Inclusive & Diverse Journey, at 1pm on the Agenda Stage. Established in 1987 Iarnród Éireann is a subsidiary of Córas Iompair Éireann, providing passenger (45.5 million passenger journeys in 2023) and freight rail services as well as operating Rosslare Europort.

With over 4,700 employees divided into 3 principal operating units.

  • Railway Undertaking (Train Operations & Maintenance)
  • Capital Investments – (New Projects)
  • Infrastructure Management – (Maintenance & renewal of track, structures, Buildings. Traffic control operations)

The infrastructure Management has over 1,870 employees which comprises of Multi discipline Engineers, Programme & Project Managers, Technical Support, Planners, Quantity Surveyors, Platelayers (Track Labour), Electricians, Apprentices, Graduates, Signal & Level Crossing Operators, Traffic Controllers, Safety, Finance, Human Resources.

The Infrastructure department is responsible for the maintenance and renewal of:

  • 2,400km of operational track
  • 100km of electrified track
  • 145 stations
  • 4,440 bridges
  • 13 tunnels
  • 970 level crossings

In addition to the programme of maintenance and renewals, infrastructure is involved in supporting all major projects such as:

  • DART+ Expansion
  • TPS (Track Protection System)
  • NTCC (National Train Control Centre)
  • CACR (Cork Area Commuter Rail)
  • Limerick Regeneration
  • Athenry/Galway Projects

Iarnród Éireann has been chosen by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications as a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Champion, implementing a focused sustainability strategy (Sustainability in Motion 2024 – 2030) aiming to reduce environmental impacts while improving climate resilience.

They place sustainability not only at the heart of the service and infrastructure they deliver, but also at the heart of how they deliver them.

Iarnród Éireann also has dedicated departments for Health & Wellbeing, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) and Talent Management.
