A community-based mental health support, suicide intervention, and bereavement support charity — based in Kilkenny and Laois, serving all of Ireland.
The Thomas Hayes Trust CLG was founded in February 2014 by Angela Hayes and her family. Angela's husband Tommy died by suicide in 2002, leaving her to raise their four young sons. Nine years later, in 2011, her son Thomas — then just 19 years old — also died by suicide, on the anniversary of his father's death. Having experienced the devastation of losing both a husband and a child to suicide, and recognising the profound lack of accessible support available in Ireland, Angela transformed her grief into action — establishing Teac Tom (Tom's House) as a safe, welcoming space for people affected by suicide and mental health challenges.
"By helping others, The Thomas Hayes Trust will commemorate the life of Thomas — a son, brother and friend, and remember his father Tommy."
— Angela Hayes, Founder & CEO
Teac Tom does not receive ongoing government funding or subsidies. Every service we provide is made possible by the generosity of individuals, businesses, and community partners like you.
