Ireland’s construction industry recorded strong momentum in early 2025, with new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) showing a notable rise in both production volume and value. According to the CSO’s Production in Building and Construction Index released on 20 June 2025, overall construction output increased by 4.9% in Q1 2025 compared to the previous quarter, and 13.5% year-on-year.
The Civil Engineering sector led the quarterly growth, with a surge of 16.6% in volume, reflecting ongoing investment in infrastructure and public works. The Non-Residential Building sector also reported a quarterly rise of 4.4%, suggesting continued demand for commercial and public buildings. However, Residential Building saw a 4.3% decline, indicating some cooling in housing activity for the start of the year.
In terms of value, the index for All Building and Construction rose by 6.5% quarter-on-quarter and 19.0% annually, pointing to both increased activity and inflationary pressures across the sector.
This sustained growth in construction output, particularly in civil and commercial projects, translates into significant employment and skills opportunities. That’s where Construction Jobs Expo, Ireland’s leading recruitment event for the built environment, comes into focus.
Taking place Saturday, 11th October, 2025 at Shelbourne Hall, RDS, Dublin, this year's Expo returns with a renewed emphasis on civil engineering, commercial development, sustainability, and digital construction, l bringing together top employers, training bodies, and jobseekers to address the sector’s evolving workforce needs. With roles available across engineering, project management, trades, quantity surveying, and more, the event is designed to connect talent with Ireland’s growing infrastructure pipeline.
As industry momentum continues through 2025, Construction Jobs Expo provides a vital platform for jobseekers, career changers, and students to explore rewarding paths in one of Ireland’s fastest-growing sectors.
